Start Here

Hello everyone and welcome to my travel blog. I spent the last ten years serving in the military. While I met great friends and mentors, saw amazing places, and had incredible experiences, I was burnt out – like every travel blogger. So, I decided to ditch the uniform and do all of those things – again. The only difference is now I can tell people what I’m doing.

I will travel to seven countries for 112 days beginning early September 2026 and ending late December 2026. There may be an encore for New Year’s so stay tuned for updates. I organized each leg of the trip into different passages. Each passage is dedicated to honing a certain set of virtues and principles designed to achieve an inner excellence.

Route map: Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, Nepal, Thailand and Japan

The Route and its Five Passages

Portugal & Spain — The fist pilgrimage trek, hostels and sore feet

2. Sahara Solitude

Morocco — Sand dunes, medinas, concerts and kitesurfing

3. Nirvana

Nepal — Thin air, high mountain passes and Vipassana quiet retreat

4. Fighter

Thailand — Muay Thai training, tropical beaches, and bruises

5. The Five Rings

Japan —a legendary Japanese ronin, sushi, torii gates and the final pilgrimage route (plus more sore feet)

The Journey’s Meaning

This is more than a journey around the world. It’s about becoming a better version of myself by cultivating a life governed by virtues and principles. With each passage, I get closer to my goal of being a better man for my family, friends, and community. This is my rite of passage. Origins of the Journey

Can people truly change? Or are we forever set in our ways? It was April, 2026, and I was frustrated at myself. After ten years of military service, I was finally leaving active duty. I was burnt out and I needed a long break from everything. As I looked back at the last ten years,…
